Commissioner Jo Borg visits PMSP
The European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Dr Joe Borg, spent half a day in Plymouth on Monday 28 April 2008. As part of his visit he attended "An Exhibition on Marine Sciences & Technology: a vision for the future" presented by PMSP. The exhibition comprised of poster stands representing all of the PMSP partners illustrating different aspects of research and training that is being carried out in Plymouth. The display was held at South Yard, one of the possible co-location sites for four of the PMSP partners (MBA, PML, SAHFOS and the UoP Marine Institute). Find out more >
Oceanology International 2008 - PMSP stands out on Climate, Energy and Security
PMSP stood head and shoulders above the rest at the Oceanology International 2008 Exhibition and Conference at London's Excel to exhibit current work within the Partnership and the South West region on issues associated with Climate Change, Renewable Energy an Environment, Health and Civil Security. A multidisciplinary approach is being used develop an understanding of clinically important scenarios by utilising expertise developed in other fields. It is an approach which the partnership intends to expand through future research projects and collaborations. Find out more >
Ocean Acidification - the other half of the CO2 problem
Researchers at PML, led by Drs Steve Widdicombe and Jerry Blackford and the University of Plymouth, led by Prof John Spicer and Dr Simon Rundle, work in collaboration bringing together aspects of biochemistry, ecology, physiology and behaviour in the context of ocean acidification. Find out more >
Investigating the Oceans - Select Committee Event
When the House of Commons Select Committee on Science and Technology launched a new enquiry into 'marine science in the polar and non-polar oceans' in April 2007, the Committee held a launch event at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. Not only was it the first time that a Science and Technology Committee launch has been held outside London but also the first inquiry into Marine Science for 20 years. Find out more >
