DDRC is one of the largest hyperbaric medical units in the UK established in 1980 to facilitate research into diving and hyperbaric medicine, clinical and biomedical research.

The Marine Biological Association of the UK is a long-established (since 1884) charity undertaking fundamental research on the seas and marine life, supported by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Grant in Aid.

The Marine institute of the University of Plymouth was inaugurated in 2006 to develop a pool of experts and an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to marine and maritime research, education and innovation.

The National Marine Aquarium is the charity dedicated to raising awareness and increasing understanding of the worlds oceans, the life they contain and the way in which we affect them through education, conservation and research.

An independent multidisciplinary research centre and RCUK Research Council Institute, concerned with understanding how marine ecosystems function, reducing uncertainty about complex processes and structures in our seas and their role in the Earth system.

SAHFOS operates the Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey one of the longest running marine biological time-series. The survey collects plankton data using merchant ships and provides a unique multi-decade plankton database.
